Workshop #2 ~ Embrace the starting-line: the importance of grassroot venues, and learning to work with them

09.08. Friday, 16:00-17:00 @ Konferenciaterem

MOST’s Urban Project Hub pillar workshop.

Grassroot venues are the cradle of the whole music ecosystem, the first step in all artists’ career towards major festival stages. But these venues usually work isolated, struggle financially, fighting all sorts of issues from gentrification to political problems or nosy neighbours. EEnlarge Europe, a regional hub of venues set out to share their knowledge and support each other and emerging artists, to shift market-based competition to mutual assistance. How do they operate day-by-day, and how can they be the best curators for festivals and future arena tours? How can you get to know them and form a fruitful cooperation? We try to find answers to these questions with a special focus on venues in the Balkan region.

This workshop is co-hosted by the European Music Council, a partner in the MOST project, the largest European network of music organisations and an instrumental player of policy-making on the international level and Pro Progressione, the Budapest-based artistic hub connecting people, professions and ambitions by designing international collaborations in the field of culture.
